4M BAND, SXM’S TOP ONLINE BAND CELEBRATES FIVE YEARS, BY PAYING TRIBUTE TO FANS
4M Band Honors Longest Dedicated Fan and Celebrate Their Fifth Anniversary
The members of the 4M Band have dedicated their longest fan on Friday March 25, 2011. Ms. Peggy Richinsin has been a fan of the band since 2006 when the band first took part during Carnival. Every year for carnival Peggy could be seen jamming in front, side, or behind of the truck and even for parade she usually joins a troupe that the band would be playing for. The members have been noticing it for the past years and decided that since it is the 5th anniversary she would be given an official T-Shirt that was sponsored by 4M band’s main sponsor Penha WI for 2011.
During the little ceremony, a member of the 4M Band was given their official 2011 shirt by the General Manager of Penha Ms. Mardia Richardson. Ms. Richardson has dedicated this carnival to the band as she has seen that Carnival has become the one cultural event that has not been well sponsored by the business community and urge other businesses to also sponsor any entity during carnival.
Also at the ceremony was the President of SCDF Mr. Stuart Johnson where he also was given an official 4M Band Shirt. “I would like to congratulate the 4M Band on their fifth anniversary, as I encourage them to continue to enhance our carnival celebrations.” Johnson also added “Despite the economic hardships being experience in certain areas, sponsorship is vital for the continuity of the band and its further growth.” Mr. Johnson concluded by saying he was elated to know the band will be taking part in carnival 2011 and urges the business community to help everyone with sponsorship. After all, business benefit from Carnival either directly or indirectly.
4M Band will be taking part this Saturday Night for the Band-O-Rama competition where they will be defending their title as they are the 2010 Carnival Band-O-Rama Champions. Also, the band will be contending for the Band of the Year spot.
This year the band has been working very hard music wise and has listened to the general public on their views on our songs. With the help of Ms. Dahjanarah Philips who wrote the song the main song that is already a hit entitle “Raise Your Flag”. The song has been hitting the airwaves in Florida, UK, Anguilla, and surprisingly a YouTube video from Poland with dancers dancing to the song. The video can be seen on 4M’s FaceBook page. Many of our own local radio station has already received the songs but the members has also notice that our local radio station don’t really play local songs and if they do they only play it during carnival.
The members of 4M Band would like to thank everyone who has been there with them from the beginning. They of course are thanking the first set of members from 5 years ago as they still looked at as part of the 4M Family. Music has evolved and so has the band. 4M would like to thank Penha WI, Auto Depot, Caribbean Liquors and Tobacco/Coors Light, Electec, Earthquake Sound System, Payless Electrical, Raymond Jacobs, past sponsors (St. Maarten Cable TV, Kooyman, Fatum) and of course the fans. Even though the slogan for carnival 2011 is “Country St. Maarten Fettin’ for 2011” 4M is saying also “Is Fette we Fettin Not Fight We Fighting”. Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable Carnival.
